    Americans Claim Independence and Jackson Joins the Army
    On the fourth of July, America gained independence from Britain by signing the Declaration of independence. This caused there to be a war between the newly founded America and many European powers. Jackson, being 13 at the time, decided to join the army. This was his first time being involved with war and this sent him down the path of being a renowned war hero.

    Andrew Jackson married Rachel Donelson Jackson in 1794. Rachel was a widow with eleven children. Even though none of them were his, he helped raise them like they were one of his own. They lived on a plantation in Nashville in a colonial style mansion called "The Hermitage".

Charles Dickinson shot first, hitting Jackson in the chest. Jackson was hurt but shot and killed Dickinson. Andrew Jackson died from Tuberculosis which resulted from the gunshot wound.

    During the War of 1812, the British were attacking New Orleans and trying to take the port which was very important to the United States. Britain made one final push. launching a full scale attack on the city to try and take the port. To the amazement of many, Jackson and his men were able to deal a crushing defeat which forced the British out of Louisiana all together.

    After barely losing to John Quincy Adams in the 1824 election, Andrew Jackson ran for the presidency again. This time he was able to win. Andrew Jackson then became the seventh president of the United States of America.

    21,000 people came to see the swearing in of the new president. After the inauguration, the White House was opened to all for the post-inaugural reception. The drunken mob of people were very destructive to the White House and only left when the alcohol was placed on the front lawn. The party was so destructive that Andrew Jackson had to sneak out of his own party.

    The Indian Removal Act, proposed by Jackson, is passed by congress. This act stated that the Native Americans living in the territory were to be forcefully moved from their homes and land. There were forced west of the Mississippi River. This trail became known as the Trail of Tears.

    Andrew Jackson was the president during the Texas Revolution. This was one of the most important events in his life because it caused encouragement. Encouragement to join the army and to win the Texas revolution. This ended up with the united states having a huge new portion of land.

    Jackson had a pet parrot named Poll. This parrot attended the funeral of Jackson. Because Jackson had swore so much around his parrot, the parrot repeated the words that Jackson said so much that the parrot had to be removed from the funeral.
