Election Of 1824
The Election of 1824 took place on October 26-December 2, 1824. During this time period, Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay, and William H. Crawford, were all running for president, and Jackson won the Popular Vote, but no one won the majority for the Electoral Vote, making it a tie. To break this tie, the House of Representatives had to decide who to elect, and on February 9, 1825, John Quincy Adams was elected president. -
Election of 1828
The Elcection of 1828 took place on Friday, October 31-Tuesday, December 2, 1828. Andrew Jackson runs for president once more along with the previous president, John Quincy Adams. In the end, Jackson won both the Electoral and Popular Votes, and was elected president. After becoming president, Jackson fired all the federalist government workers( The people who supported and helped John Quincy Adams during the Election of 1824) and hired all of his supporters. This is known as the spoils system. -
The Indian Removal Act
