Jackson enlisted in the Revolutionary army because he chose patriotism instead of grief. He had grief because his father died when he was 2 years old. He also joined because he was tired of the tyranny of the king. -
Battle of Horseshoe bend
The battle of horseshoe bend occurred when 1000 indians went on a peninsula. 2600 of Andrew Jackson's forces went to attack them. The indians were settled there because they were seeking shelter. -
Battle of New Orleans
This Battle was the battle that made Andrew Jackson Famous. This battle ended in a United States victory. This was the last battle of the war of 1812. -
Election of 1824
There were 4 candidates running for the presidency. They were John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay, Andrew Jackson, and one guy who wasn’t in the textbook because he wasn’t important enough. John Quincy Adams won the corrupt bargain. -
Election of 1828
Also called the, ‘Bitter Campaign’, because of last years corrupt bargain and winning of John Quincy Adams. Jackson won on a landslide! He won by more than 3/4th of electoral college. -
Indian Removal Act
Jackson saw that american citizens wanted the fertile land of the southeast, so he acted upon it. He released the Indian removal act, which moved all native americans to the west of the Mississippi. -
Worcester v. GA
This case happened when the cherokee indians sued the state of georgia for kicking them out of their state. The court ruled that the state had no right to kick them out. Jackson supported kicking the indians out. -
Nullification Crisis
In 1828 congress passed a tariff so high that southerners called it the Tariff of of Abominations. In 1832 they decreased the Tariff and South Carolina was still not impressed, they threatened to secede if the union challenged. Henry Clay made a compromise to lower the tariff substantially. -
Bank war
This occurred because the banks were getting too powerful. When the bank came up for a re-charter andrew jackson veto the bill. He did this because he knew the bank had too much power.
