He enlists in Revolutionary Army
He enlists in the Revolutionary Army as a courier at age 12/13 with his two older brothers. He was captured by the British Army and once when he refused to shine a general's boots, he got a scar across his face and hands. -
Battle of Horseshoe Bend
This battle was during the War of 1812 in Alabama, and it was where Colonel Jackson defeated a creek tribe, the Red Sticks, who were against American expanison. This also ended the Creek War. -
Battle of New Orleans
This battle is when Jackson defended New Orleans with only 5,000 troops from the 7,500 British troops and won. This took place after the Treaty of Ghent had been written, and it made him the new 'national hero' and it increased nationalism. -

Jackson ran against John Quincy Adams during this election, but even though he won the popular and electoral votes the House of Representatives had to elect the president. Adams won by a 'corrupt bargain' because Congress was convinced by Henry Clay to vote for Adams. -

This election was a re-match between President John Quincy Adams, and Jackson who was the runner-up last election. Jackson easily defeated Adams with a majority vote and the Jacksonian Democracy came into place. -

When Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act, he declared that all Indian tribes living in the Southwest area of the United States, be moved West (to around Georgia) and past the Mississippi River.. -
Worcester vs. Georgia
Worcester vs. Georgia was a court case wher Georgia said that Cherokee Indians should be taken out because they were in some of their and other states' lands. Chief Justice Marshall declared that the Cherokees possessed the right to live free from the state's trespasses. This decision became the foundation of the principle of tribal sovereignty. -
Nullification Crisis
Leaders of South Carolina thought they didn't have to follow federal laws and could nullify them. They thought the tariffs were too high and decided it was unconstitutional so they were 'null and void' and they wouldn't pay it. Jackson used military forces and a new tariff at a negotiated lower price, then South Carolina repealed its Nullification Ordinance. -
Bank War
The Bank War was the political struggle time period in Andrew Jackson's presidency in the 1830s against the Second Bank of the United States which he thought was unconstitutional. He personally battled the president of the bank, Nicholas Biddle. This war created many conflicts but in the end Jackson's side against it won and the bank fell.
