Jackson's Birth
Andrew Jackson was born in a town between North and South Carolina. He was a lawyer when he grew up and recieved a great education in politics. -
Jackson Enlists in Revolutionary army
Jackson's dad had left his famly; him, his mother, and his brother. Jackson and his brother enlisted in the army after being captured by the british. Later his brother died so Jackson was accepted into the army alone. he fought untill 1788. -
Battle of Horeshoe Bend
This battle was fought during the war of 1812 by the mississippi river in central alabama. Jackson was the genral for the Creek War and lead 3300 men comapred to the indian army of only 1000. Jakcson wanted to clear the area of american settlemt so that ht eindians didnt cause battles due to lack of areas and land to settle. -
Battle of New Orleans
After Britan sighned the Treaty to end the war of 1812, the war began. Andrew Jackson was not yet president, bur he was the genral of the army that fought. This is where his nick name "Old Hickory" came from, his toughness and his need to help defend new orleans. Jackson hen passed a law saying any man with a gun was to join the army to help fight the british, which incresed his army to 4500 men. Thanks to jacksons law they had won the battle. -
Election of 1824
Adams was in the lead for a while. The Henry Clay was in last place so he gave all of the votes on Him to Jackson. He had to convonce the house of representatives becuase there wasnt an immediate winner so it was up to them. With all the votes jackson got from Clay he went from second to wining the election. -
Election of 1828
This election was a re-match between John Quincey Adams and Andrew Jackson. More of the northern states over by new york were voting for adams but the southern states were for Jackson because in his latest presidency, Jackson raised the taxes fro European goods which helped the south. -
Bank War
Andrew Jackson wanted to remove the national Bank, which was run by the federal government. Citizens did not agree because they felt was saying of the government. Jackson believed that the people working at the bank were not suitable for the job because he believe you had to be a government employee to work there. many got angry and faught against the removal of the national bank. -
Indian Removal Act
Jackson wanted the south to have more land so they could grow crops and make money for the US government. he wanted to south move the Indians in the south west of the Mississippi River so they wouldn't get in the way of the southern farms. -
Worcester Vs. Georgia
this was a supreme court case created due to the Indian removal act in 1830. The Indian upset because they we're unwillingly forced out so that farmers from the south could grow more crops. Nullification Crisis
Andrew decided to put a higher tax on the European goods so that people could sell their goods for more. The people of the south wrre most affected because they needed to sell with the European people to get more crops and sell their crops with them while trading. The north was less effected because they didn't need to trade with them as much
