    Durinf the war of 1812, Andrew Jackson defended the city of New Orleans from the British. The Americans won the battle, and many were killed.

    In this election, Andrew Jackson ran against Henry Clay and Jong Quincy Adams. Adams won because of him making an agreement with Clay, and many say it was unfair.

    The southerners were displeased with tariffs that affected imported european goods. This eventually led to a depute about how much power the states should be allowed to have to nullify unfair laws and tariffs. Eventually, Henry Clay came up with a compromise that Jackson implimented.
