In 1815, Louisiana was attacked by the British but Andrew Jackson, leader of the American army, defeated the British who wanted to seperate Louisiana from the U.S., thus giving Jackson the title of "National Hero". -
Election of 1824
In 1824, Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams ran for president in which Jackson claimed the election was corrupt, since Henry Clay became secretary of state for Adam after Adam won the election. -
Election of 1828
In 1828, Andrew Jackson had a rematch election against John Quincy Adams and Jackson became the president which led to the formation of Democratic political party and the Age of Jackson. -
Nullification Crisis
In 1828, Congress passed a law raising the national tariff, which helped the North with money but made the South lose money, so the Southern states wanted to nullify the tariff tax. -
Indian Removal Act
In 1830, Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act which allowed him to move the natives against their will westward. -
Worcester v. Georgia
In 1832, the Cherokee sued the state of Georgia in Supreme Court case Worcester v. Georgia, which stated Cherokee can stay where there are right now. -
Bank War
In 1832, Jackson vetoed the renewal of the National Bank declaring war on the bank of the U.S which he thought was trying to kill him. -
Trail of Tears
In 1838, the U.S sent the Cherokee Indians west to Oklahoma on what is known as the Trail of Tears, which 4,000 Cherokee died on a horrible trip westward.
