Battle of New Orleans
The British wanted to seperate Louisiana from the rest of the United States, however they could not penetrate the US defenses. The British retreated, General Packenham died,and 2,000 of his men were killed and the US had only 8 deaths and 13 wounded. -

Jackson won the popular vote, but no one won the electoral vote. Jackson called the election a corrupt bargain becasue he didnt think the vote was fair to democrats. Jackson ended up winnning by a landslide. -

Indian Removal Act
Georgia began moving Native Americans west. This gave the president power to move Native Americnas west of the Mississippi River. Many died while leaving, therefore it was called the Trail of Tears. -
Nullification Crisis
The tariff was designed to protect United States industry but it hurt merchants. Southerners called it the abominations because they hated it. South Carolina threatened to withdraw, but Jackson lowered the tariff and let them stay. -
Worcester v. Georgia
The Worcester v. Georgia case in 1832 was fought over the Cherokees being removed from their homeland in the Southeast. -
Bank War
The purpose of the bank was to regulate economic polocies, Jackson disliked it because there was too much power for the bank. Jackson vetoed the bank when it was up for renewal.
