    Jackson's Birth
    Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaws region between North and South Carolina. He was born around the end of the colonial era. He became a war hero after defeating the British in New Orleans during the War of 1812.

    Jackson Enlists in Revolutionary Army
    When he was thirteen Andrew Jackson joined the Continental Army as a courier. Him and his brothers all saw action in war, and it took a toll on his family. His older brother was killed in combat, and him and his other brother were taken captive by the British. Jackson's other brother eventually died by being struck by a sword.
  • Battle of Horseshoe Bend

    Battle of Horseshoe Bend
    On March 27, Andrew Jackson led an Army of US soldiers, Tennessee militia, Cherokee and Lower Creek indians against Upper Creek indians in Horseshoe Bend. This was the last battle of the Creek War of 1813-1814 and helped get Andrew Jackson elected President.

    Battle of New Orleans
    The Battle of New Orleans was the last battle of the War of 1812. On January 8th the British attacked the Americans at New Orleans. The battle only lasted 30 minutes and the British were defeated.
  • Election of 1824

    Election of 1824
    This was the final collapse of the Republican-Federalist political party. There were no federalist canidates during this whole election. John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Henry Clay were running during this. Adams and Clay worked together and got Adams as president, and Clay as VIce President. Andrew Jackson was mad and called this a "Corrupt Bargain".

    Nomintions changed and were made by conventions and state legislatures. John Quincy Adams was re-nominated, and Jackson would represent the Democratic-Republicans. The election was from October 31st to December 2nd and was the first election where the candidates were mean to eachother. In the end Andrew Jackson clearly won.

    The Bank War was Andrew Jackson's work to end federal banks. By 1836 he had won and the last federal bank closed. All money was then deposited in state banks.
  • Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act allowed the President to negotiate moving indians from the southern states to territory west of the Mississippi River. This allowed land to be given out to people in the south. Land in the west was promised to the Indians who were moved forever. The most famous event during this time was The Trail of Tears.

    Samuel Worcester was a missionary living with the Cherokee indians in Georgia. He was arrested for living on indian lands without a state license. The case Worcester vs Georgia decided that the Georgia law was unconstitutional and Worcester was freed.
  • Nullification Crisis

    Nullification Crisis
    This was first voiced by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to try and get rid of the Alien and Sedition Acts. South Carolina created an ordinance of nullification, and told the federal government that they would secede if they tried to collect the tariffs. Henry Clay proposed a compromise to fix this problem.
