Andrew was born in the United Kingdom on November 25, 1835. -
Started First Steel Mill
Carnegie built his first steel mill and named it Edgar Thomson steel works. He made this in Pennsylvania right outside of Pitsburg. -
Retirement
In 1901 Andrew retired and gave up the company. Before he did this, he owned up to a quarter of the American iron and steel production. He later gifted away $125 million to establish the Carnegie Corporation of America
