    The Western Front mosty took place in Belgium and France. When World War 1 started it triggered other places to also fight.
  • Trench Warfare

    On September 1, 1914 The Trench Warfare began. They made these trenches to help them from getting hurt. They had machine guns at the time so they made the trenches to also help them when the enemies tried to overrun the trenches.
  • Gas Attacks

    They would use chlorine gas bombs and shells. The allied soldiers got gas masks to help them. These bombs could do a lot of damage to you but thats why they made them. They made deadly mustard gas but that wasnt until 1917.

    Little Willie made the first tank ever used in WW1. It weighted alot and always got stuck in trenches. It didnt go very fast either. This tank was just a start. Eventually they made better tanks that wouldnt get stuck.

    Ships would try to go where they need to but then they would crash into different ships. This caused alot of people to die because they had no way to keep them selfs up above the water. I picked that picture because it shows a ship going under water in the middle of the sea. There was no land around so anyone who did come up still never lived.

    They made the Zimmerman Telegram to help get the United States into war. Arthur Zimmerman made something that changed everything. It was a big impact.
  • Letter to her Parents

    Nettie sent a letter out to her parents on August 9, 1917. She let them know that she got a new address. She hopes to hear from them when they get the letter. She's going to send them pictures of herself to let them see what she looks like in her uniform.

    Nettie is telling her mother about how she finally got released from the guard house. She talks about the nurses and what has been happening with them during this time.

    She hasn't opened the three packages she got but she knows they will be good because the guy she got them from is a good story teller. She tells his folks about how the Y.M.C.A is interested in them. Sombody had thier first service so she went down there and listened to him.

    Germany made submarines to attack ships. The submarines could travel under water for two hours. They were good weapons back then.
  • Letter to her Mother

    Nettie didnt have anything to do until the next day so she wrote her mother a letter. Nettie told her what she has been doing today. She cleaned her uniform, then she got a letter from someone. Her mother has been asking when will she be home but she told her that she doesnt know.

    Nettie tells her mother that she has been saving all her centimes for a day that she is waiting for. Nettie wrote a lot about all the trips she went on and how interesting or boring they were.

    Nettie wrote to her mother a lot. Almost all the letters are to her mother. She told her mother that she is sweet. She said how her mother has never failed her and she always looks forward to the letters from her mother. Nettie loves her mother and her mom always helps her get straighted out.

    They wanted to get all of the germans out of Belleau Wood. The Germans fought back and the Americans stoped fighting back. There were alot of dead, wounded, and missing people.
  • Aerial Warfare

    Aerial Warfare
    Aircrafts were a good resource back then because they could attack their enemies from up above. The aircrafts had multiple guns and bombs on them so when they fly over they can drop them/shoot. They are a big threat to any one. The bad thing about them is that they are very easy to crash.
  • Armistice Day

    Armistice Day
    This was the signing between allies and Germany. Now it is called Veterans Day. On November 11th every year we take a day to really remember all the veterans killed in the war.
