The start of the Civil war brought about many changes to the American life style. There would also be many changes in military equipment. Many of the soldiers started the war out with equipment similar to the American Revolution. As the war raged on this equipment would greatly change. -

Civil War (Sharpshooters)
Berdan sharpshooters carried the "modern" style gun and ammunition boxes as the president felt they would be more leathal with new weapons. -
Civial War (Late)
Many of the soldiers were still using the roundball type of bullet, but some of them were using the more "modern" type of bullet. This new bullet used paper as a cartridge and allowed the shooter to fire 3 times faster than the roundball muzzled loaded type of weapon. -
Pre- Spanish-American War
The early part of the war the soldiers were equipped with the same type of ammunition box as the civil war, since the war had happened only years prior. Later, the guns changed including the ammunition and the boxes to carry them. -
Spanich-American War (Late)
Later in the war some of the troops would have new equipment such as guns, ammunition, and ammunition boxes to carry their ammunition.
