When hitting the ball out of the park was a luxury. Today its a necessity we want to see the big shots. In 1920 Babe Ruth ended this big average, to big home runs. He hit a league high 29 home runs that year. -
Cy Young's last win
The Majestic Cy was the greatest pitcher of all time. Collecting 511 wins total over a 22 year career. Today that is pretty impossible with guys going every 5 days instead of 2 or 3 days. Cy shut out the Pirates 1-0 for his last win. He had 3 more starts after that and he went down hill from that last win. -
The "Black" Sox
During the 1919 World Series the White Sox threw away the games. To make a major profit in the long wrong. 8 players were banned for life. -
The Negro League is born
For several decades the African American's were playing baseball. Of course none of them were able to play with the MLB. In 1920 John W. "Bud" Fowler form the Negro League in Kansas City. Where eight teams participated. -

The Yankee Dynasty
The New York Yankees are MLB. Today they are they have the highest pay roll and have the best players; well al least the highest paid players. Back when men were men names like Babe Ruth and Lou Geireg started the Dynasty of 27 championships with the first one in 1923. -
The MVP Award
The MVP Award recognize the best player in the NL and AL. Lefty Grove won the AL MVP in 1931 and Frankie Frisch won the NL MVP. The most recent MVP's are Josh Hamilton and Joey Votto. -
Babe Ruth hits last homerun
The Great Bambino, The Sultan of Swat whatever you call him he had a tremendous career. Babe was the first to 500, 600, and 700 home runs, he held the home run record at 714 from 1936 to 1976 where Hank Aaron broke it. -
The Thumper hits for .406
The Thumper also know as Ted Williams, set the all time single season batting average with .406. This still stands today, and I believe will never be broken. Ted was one of the greats. He died July 5, 2002. -
A League of Their Own
The All American Girls Softball League wanted to start a baseball league of their own. Over the 11 years of its existence there were 15 total teams. They made a movie about this league, starring Tom Hanks. -
Integration begins in Baseball
Jackie Robinson was 4 letter athlete at UCLA. Nothing stopped him from being the best he could be. He broke the color barrier by playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He won Rookie of the Year that same year. -
Roberto Clemente Dies
Roberto Clemente was a great baseball player, but not as great as the humanatarian he was. In the offseason he would do charity work. While trying to get out of Nicaragua, his plane crashed in the ocean. Today we still honor him with the Roberto Clemente Award given to the player that does everything to help not just baseball but the community too. -
Hammerin' Hank
Hank Aaron breaks Babe Ruth's home run record. He was 40 years old when he broke it. He never hit less than 24 home runs in a season. He also was an all star every year from 1954 to 1973. -
Charlie Hustle
Pete Rose passes Ty Cobb on all time hits list, with 4,192. You think he would be a shoe in for the hall of fame, but this isn't true. He was banned from baseball when he gamble on game that he played. -
First Sniff of Steroids
Jose Canseco is accused of using steroids. He denies this to reporters before the 1988 ALCS. A couple decades later he writes a book all about his knowledge of steroids. -

Players hitting over 40 home runs and even 50 home runs. Its pretty awesome and rediculous how they can hit that many. -
From 2 divisions to 3 in a League
Many teams were struggling trying to make it to the post season. So MLB changed the structure of the organization of teams. It's still going on today and could change in a matter of this year by moving The Houston Astros to the AL to make it 15 teams in each league. -
" I never took steroids!"
Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and severall others lied to a judge about using steriods. The Barry Bonds trial is still going today. -
The Recent Champs
The San Francisco Giants are the Defending Champs. They beat the Texas Rangers in 6 games. With Beard power from Brian Wilson they closed it out.
