Battle of Lexington and Concord
First military battle of the American Revolution. Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to Concord so they could sieze an arms cache. Paul Revere allerted everyone and the minutemen began to stop the British from reaching Concord. The Americans met them in Lexington and they began to fight. The British were left with the only option, which was to retreat. -

Siege of Boston
In the Siege of Boston the Americans surrounded the Boston Harbor so the British were stuck in the Harbor. Eventually the British were forced a mile out in the harbor so the British in the Colonies couldn't get supplies. The colonists shot cannon balls that reached a mile off the shore, forcing the British to leave. -
Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
Led by General Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold. Defeated a British garrison in the Lake Champlain area in NY state. Shipped supplies from the fort to Boston and used to fortify Dorchester Heights and break the standoff at the siege of Boston. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The British attack Bsoton. The Americans are on the top of the hill which makes it easier to attack the British coming up it. The British lost abour 3x as many soldiers as the Americans. It is considered a British victory because by the time the British sent the 4th round of soldiers the Americans were out of weapons and forced to retreat. -
Battle of Quebec
The British were defending the city of Quebec. It was the first major defeat for the Americans. The leaders of the American army were either killed, injured, or taken prisoner. The French-Canadians supported both sides. The Canadians that supported the Americans left with them when they retreated. -
Battle of Long Island
It was fought in Brooklyn. It was a major victory for the British and loss for George Washington and the Patriots. It was the start of a successful British campaign. British gained control of NYC which was very important. It was the largest battle (most soldiers fighting) in the whole war. -
Battle of Trenton
The Americans hadn't won a battle in a while and people were starting to lose faith in George Washington. There usually isn't any fighting on Christmas. The Americans sneak attacked the British on Christmas night and they captured 1,400 merceneries. This boosted the Patriots morale and GW gained people's trust again. -

GW lead the patriots to another sneak attack victory in Princeton NJ. -
Battle of Brandywine
The British defeated the Americans and forced them to reteat to Philidelphia. The battle took place in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.The British sailed from MD and landed in Chesepeak Bay. The 2 armies met at Brandywine Creek. The British General Howe moved part of his army away and then they came and attacked the right flank of Washington's army causing them retreat to a Quaker house. -

Battle of Saratoga
There were two battles 9 miles south of Saratoga, NY. The British won a few smaller victories, but the Americans captured a few important British defenses. The British had to retreat. This was a turning point because people started to believe that the colonies. Allies with donations came pouring in and Britain had to start fighting in Europe as well. -
French Join the War
The French joined the war after the battle of Saratoga. Benjamin Franklin had ties to France and they supported the Americans because they believed they had a chance in winning the war. They supplied, resources, money, troops, and a Navy. -
Capture of Savannah
The American Commander Robert Howe had to defend Savannah from the British with only 700 troops. The British defeated them killing more than 550 patriots and all the artilerary. This forced Howe to retire to South Carolina. -

Siege of Charelston
The British began to turn their attention to the south so they could get support from the loyalists so they went to the Carolinas. It was the greatest loss to the colonies because they lost many men and euipment. -
Battle of Camden
Major Victory for the British. They pushed the colonists away from the Carolinas increasing the British's control over the Carolinas which was imporant because thts where the loyalists were that could support them. -
Battle of King's Mountain
The British and Americans were fighting in the Carolinas and they started fighting in the mts. The colonists found the British forts in the mt. and they killed or captured all the British. -
Battle of the Cowpens
The Colonists defeated the British and they stopped their conquest of South Carolina. -
Battle of Guilford Courthouse
Not many soldiers fought in the war, but it was a crucial win for the Americans. The British were recruting loyalists in the Carolinas and the colonists stopped them with this victory. -
Battle of Eutaw Springs
The Colonists put the British's hopes of reconquering South Carolina to an end. The Colonists sneak attacked the British in the morning. Many died. -

Battle of Yorktown
George Washington lead the colonists in the final land battle that lead an American victory. The British had to surrender and then negotiate an end to the conflict. The French helped the Americans in the south. The British were weakened the French and Americans attacked from both sides. The negotiations resulted in the Treaty of Paris.
