    Lexington and Concord

    British soldiers, under the leadership of General Gage, were sent to capture military supplies and arrest patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams. The infamous "Shot heard around the world" started the revolutionary war. The British fled back to Boston after 73 deaths, this proved that the colonists were a force to be reckoned with.

    Fort Ticonderoga

    Fought on the shores of Lake Champlain by the Green Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold and British troops. The control of this fort was very important because its location was on the border of Quebec and New York.

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    1,000 colonial militiamen, under the order of Colonel William Prescott, were sent to stop the British from controlling the hills surrounding Boston. Although the British had more casualties the colonials were outnumbered and were forced to retreat. Despite this being a loss, this gave a lot of confidence to the patriots.

    Trenton/Princeton (NJ Campaign)

    After George Washington led his army across the icy Delaware River, he led them straight to Trenton, New Jersey. As George maintained the element of surprise he surrounded the city making there no room for retreat. German Colonel Johann Rall decided to counter attack Washingtons army, but Ralls army could not stand the attack. This proved to be a very substantial fight, the patriots captured 900 German officers and soldiers and took many supplies and weapons.

    The Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was a two pronged attack from the British led by John Burgoyne from the south of Canada and General William Howe who attacked Philadelphia. This attack was at first successful capturing both New York and Philadelphia, although as they marched north many guerilla fighters caught up with the British and won the fight. This battle was very important because the colonists convinced the Spanish, Dutch, and French to help them because of their common enemy, the British.

    Siege of Charleston

    After the British realized that the North found not be captured first hand they marched toward the south where they reached South Carolina. The British, led by Sir Henry Clinton, first captured Savannah, Georgia which the Americans could not get back. The British then attacked Charelston which was an extremely long battle, eventually the colonists surrendered and the British went to capture more of the Carolinas.

    Kings Mountain

    The British led by Patrick Fergueson were heading North after their captures of the Southern colonies. The British were in a fort when the colonist surrounded them. The British then fled to Kings Mountain where the colonists went all out and won the wooded hill. This was a turning point in the war stopping the British northern march.

    Yorktown

    George Washington ended the war by commanding the French Navy to block the port of Yorktown while his soldiers surrounded the city. After 3 weeks of fighting the British finaly surrendered.
