    The battles of Lexington and Concord were fought in Massachusetts at dawn. Before this battle, Paul Revere and William Dawes warned the town that the British were coming. The battle caused by rising tensions between the colonies and the British. At this battle the british were led by Lord Percy, Major Pitcairn, and Colonel Smith. The British did not suffer heavy casualties, but the americans did hold them off. The battle was a happy start to the war for the americans, and they were inspired.

    At the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Americans were defeated by the British. The battle happened as the result of americans trying to stop the British from advancing. The battle was mostly fought at Breeds hill, despite its name. The British suffered heavy casualties, and the Americans got a confidence boost from how well they performed. The Americans were led by Colonel Prescott. The British Generals: General Howe, and Robert Pigot. After this battle, the British took firm control of Charlestown.

    At the battle of Quebec, the americans were led by Benedict Arnold and Richard Montgomery. Guy Carlton was the governor of Quebec. The americans were trying to capture the British controlled city of quebec after they were authorized two months before in September. They offered surrender, but the British declined, Montgomery was killed quickly and the americans could not beat British Defense. The americans were forced to retreat and had lost the battle of Quebec.

    George Washington crossed the frozen Delaware on Christmas day. He led his men to two victories over the 10 days that came up. Washington withdrew from Trenton but then returned the next week luring British troops south. Americans regained control of new jersey after this. The hessian mercernaries were led by Colonel Johan Rall. Washington Flanked Rall's troops and won at Trenton. On January 3 Cornwallis woke up and Washington's men dissapeared. Washington then took Princeton and won the battles

    During this Battle, Cornwallis and Howe launch a full scale British attack on George Washington. They wanted to press their advantage on the colonials. The battle was at Brandywine creek in Pennsylvania. Howe led his men through the front and Cornwallis flanked around the side. The americans slowed the advancing british but it wasnt enough. Washington and his men had to retreat. The British did not pursue them and they instead occupied Pennsylvania. The americans lost 1100 men at the battle.

    At the battle of Germantown, the americans led by Washington attempted to attack the British who were camping there. The british were led by Howe. Washington had a plan that was very complex, and the americans failed to pull it off. Washington's leadership was questioned after this battle, due to the similar loss at Brandywine. Americans suffered twice as many casualties as the British. However, Washingtons army was getting stronger and stronger as the war continued and they proved themselves.

    The battle of Monmouth took place on a very hot summer day in new jersey as the americans advanced on the British. Washington and his men fought against Henry Clinton and his men. Another person at the battle was molly pitcher, who brought water to the men on the sweltering hot day. The battle ended and the British escaped. The americans took the battle as a victory, and it boosted their confidence.

    During the battle of Camden, South Carolina, the americans led by Horatio Gates attempted to engage general cornwallis and his men. The poorly made decision caused the patriots 2000 men killed or taken prisoner. They lost a lot of artillery and other resources in this battle. Gates was removed from leadership after this move, as the British destroyed the americans in this battle.

    The Battle of Yorktown
    During the battle of Yorktown, George Washington along with an army of 17000 French and American men began the siege of Yorktown. Cornwallis and the British only had about 9000 troops to protect Yorktown. Washington did not want the British escaping, so he ordered French commander Marquis de Lafayette to block it and the French navy. Arguably the most important battle in the war, the Americans attacked the base for three weeks. The British eventually surrendered and the war had ended.
