    British soldiers, under the leadership of Gen. Gage, were looking to seize weapons from a farm in Concord. They were successfully thwarted by militia outside of Lexington and attacked during their retreat to Boston.

    Fort Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold of Massachusetts joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont to win the first American battle in the Revolutionary War. The battle gave the Americans much needed artillery.

    American General William Prescott and his men were able to hold their position just below Bunker Hill. The British came in overconfident and lost the battle.

    British General Henry Clinton led an attack on Charleston, South Carolina. They won the battle on May 12, 1780. The loss hurt the Continental Army's morale.
