In this battle the British expelled the Colonists from NYC and held on to it for the rest of the war.
During the battle the British captured many men and used them to their advantage, gaining territory and strategic footholds through out the battles. -
Seratoga (Second Battle)
General Burgoyne led the British to a failed attack that led to his surrrender of all 5700 men in the British attack.
This happened due to the guerrilla tactics of the certain colonists. This proved that The colonist could defeat big portions of the British army. And that Britain would suffer heavy losses if they continued in this war. -

Siege of Charleston
One of the worst losses the Colonists had during the revolutionary war.
General Henry Clinton cut off the city from support.
The British were offered a surrender by the colonists but refused it.
The British had plenty of support.
In the end Clinton called for an unconditional surrender, but this was Countered by a request for a conditional surrender
In response to this the British set fire to multiple homes.
This forced the unconditional surrender. -
King's Mountain

Yorktown
The British was forced deeper inland,and they hoped to unite with their Navy for reinforcements.
The colonists played around this however, and stranded the British on the Yorktown peninsula. And the Colonists surrounded them, forcing them to surrender. The British Commander: Cornwallis surrendered to Washington the leader of the colonists in this battle.
