    French Indian war
    France and Great Britain were fighting in North America for control of the Ohio River Valley. The war lasted 9 years and was incredibly expensive. Great Britain started to tax the colonists heavily to pay off the debt. This led to the first major disagreement between the colonist and the crown.
  • Stamp Act

    On March 22, 1765, the British established the Stamp Act to help cover the cost of British troops stationed in the colonies during the Seven Years' War. Since the Stamp Act was created, it has taxed legal documents, newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, dice, and playing cards. When the tax has been paid, they would stick stamps on the documents or package to show that it has been paid.

    The Townshend Act was created to ease financial difficulty from governing American colonies. The Townshend Act taxed goods, such as glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. Because of this, people were angry and led to the Boston Massacre.

    The Boston Massacre took place on King's Street in Boston. The British gained control of the city and wanted to enforce the laws such as the Stamp Act and Townshend Act. The soldiers fired their guns due to the Captain's demand which injured many people.

    When the British tea ships had arrived in Boston Harbor, local citizens wished to return the tea back to England without having to pay any kind of taxes. But the royal governor refuses and demanded them to pay the taxes. This led to a group of colonists disguising themselves as Native Americans and dumping the tea into the harbor on December 16.
  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    The British groups had marched from Boston to Lexington and Concord to take colonial military supplies by force. When they arrived at Lexington and Concord, they saw that the Colonists were well organized and the British were outnumbered. Things did not go as planned which led to the British retreating. This battle marked the beginning of the American Revolution.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill happened on June 17, 1775. The Battle of Bunker Hill happened because the British were trapped in Boston. The American patriots had lost, meaning the British had won against the Americans. But the Americans proved that they could hold their own against the superior British Army. During the battle, a lot of people had died.

    The Declaration of Independence was written to announce Independence from Great Britain and establishing themselves as an independent nation. The American colonists were able to get French assistance in the war against Great Britain. In the Declaration of Independence, it started 3 rights which are Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness.

    During the Revolutionary War, George Washington and the Continental Army which he commands, were at Valley Forge to train. But many people had suffered in Valley Forge due to the shortage of food, clothing, medicine, and diseases. The cold temperature also played a part in it.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The French have helped the Americans to defeat and force the British to surrender in 1781. The battle didn't end until 1783, which was when the Americans had won the battle against the British. The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of America's Revolution.

    The Treaty of Paris was signed by the US and the British which had ended the American Revolutionary War. The Treaty of Paris agreement acknowledged the US independence and had granted them significant western territory.
