  • First Continental Congress

    From 1774 to 1789, the Continental Congress served as the government of the 13 American colonies and later the United States. The First Continental Congress, which was comprised of delegates from the colonies, met in 1774 in reaction to the Coercive Acts, a series of measures imposed by the British government on the colonies in response to their resistance to new taxes. I
  • Battle of Lexington

    It was a military conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the 13 colonies. It started the American Revolution and had the "shot heard round the world." The leader of the American Colonies in this battle was Captain John Parker. British was General Gage Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith Marin Major John Pitcairn.
  • Battle of Concord

    The American colonist won the battle. It happened in the town of Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The colonies had 3800 men and the British forces had 1500. 49 colonist died, and 73 British. 39 colonist wounded, 174 for British.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    The colonist won this battle. It was located in Ticonderoga, New York. The British Army surrendered, without much of a fight, to the colonist. No men were killed in this battle and only one men from the colonist was wounded. One colonist was captured, but all 78 were captured of the British forces. What was significant about this battle was it had cannons, munition, and other armaments.
  • Bunker Hill

    The British won this war. It was located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. This was the first important battle in the American Revolution. Colonies went in with 2400 men; 115 died, and 305 were wounded, along with 30 captured. The British went in with 3000 with 226 died; and 828 wounded and none captured.

  • Second Continental Congress

    In 1775, the Second Continental Congress convened after the American Revolutionary War (1775-83) had already begun. In 1776, it took the momentous step of declaring America’s independence from Britain. Five years later, the Congress ratified the first national constitution, the Articles of Confederation, under which the country would be governed until 1789, when it was replaced by the current U.S. Constitution.
  • Quebec

    The British won this battle. The Colonies went in with 1200, 48 were killed 34 were wounded, and 431 captured. The British went in with 1800, and 5 died, and 14 wounded and none were captured. The significant of this conflict was that General Arnold and General Montgomery failed in invasion attempt of Canada The Americans were forced out of Canada and it was the last attempt by the Americans to get the Canadian population on their side.
  • Long Island

    The British won the battle. The colonist went in with 10000 and 300 were killed, with 800 wounded and 1000 captured. The British went in with 20000, and 64 were killed, and 293 wounded, with 31 captured.The significance was that the U.S. forces were forced to retreat to Manhattan, then New Jersey. However, there defensive tactics tactics proved to be highly successful against the British.
  • Fort Washington

    The British won the battle. The colonist went in with 8000 men, 84 died, 374 were wounded, and none captured. While the British went in with 3000 and 59 got killed, 96 were wounded, and 2837 were captured. The significance was that the continental Army suffered 3000 casualties together with the loss of cannons and thousand of military supplies. They are forced to retreat towards the Delaware River
  • Trenton

    The Colonist won the battle; they went in with 2400, and 2 were killed with 5 wounded and none captured. British went in with 1520, and 22 were killed, with 86 wounded, and 906 captured. The significance was that the Hessian army was crushed in Washington's raid across the Delaware River, and the Americans were invigorated by the easy defeat of the British Hessian forces.
  • Brandywine

    The British won; they fought with 15500 men and 89 were killed, 488 were wounded and six were captured. The colonist went in with 14600, and 300 were killed and 600 wounded. 300 men got captured. The significance of this battle was the British seized Philadelphia after their victory at Brandywine Creek would be followed by another British victory in the Battle of Germantown
  • Saratoga

    The Colonies won the war. The went in with 9000 at the Battle of Freeman's Farm and 12000 at the Battle of Bernis Heights. 90 of them were killed, and 240 wounded with non captured. The British went in with 7200 at the Battle of Freeman's Farm, and 6600 at the Battle of Bernis Heights. 440 men got killed and 695 wounded with 6222 captured. The significance is that it proved to be a turning point of the war, and convinced the French of American strength with the french gave us military aid.
  • Cowpen's

    The colonist won. The went in with 1912 men, and 25 killed, with 124 wounded but none captured. British went in with 1150 and 110 got killed, with 200 wounded and 712 captured. The significance is that it had a bad effect on British morale, whilst increasing American confidence. It caused the Lord Cornwallis to pull troops from South Carolina and move them farther north, leading to Yorktown and the end of the revolutionary war soon after.
  • Yorktown

    The Colonist won.They went in with 20600 and 72 got killed, with 180 wounded and no captured. The British went in with 8980 and 309 got killed, with 326 wounded and 8007 captured. The significance is that Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British at Yorktown.
