Many men from the Continental Army died from the cold and disease that winter when the British troops took Philadelphia. Though during this winter Baron Friedrich von Steuben trained the soldiers so they were prepared for spring. -

There were 2 battles of Saratoga. One on September 19 and one on October 7, 1777. The British had won the first battle while the Americans won the the second when the British surrendered. These battles were the turning point of the war because they caused the French to join sides with the Americans and fight. -

Leaders for France: French Admiral de Grasse
Sir Henry Clinton was sending supplies and men to Cornwallis when the Americans and French totaled to outnumber Cornwallis. The relief never made it to him, though, because the French defeated the British at Chesapeake Bay allowing the Americans to win this battle. -

The Treaty of Paris was the treaty that ended the American Revolutionary war between U.S. and Britain. It took about a year after the British surrendered for King George to ratify the treaty.
