In Charlestown Massachusettes around 2,000 men, a mix of one side being the British army, and the other side being American patriots, fought against each other at war. In the end, the British army came out with a victory. Although the American patriots lost, this battle encouraged them to fight harder for the revolutionary cause. -

A U.S. document created by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and
Robert R. Livingston. On August 2nd, 1776 in Philidelphia, it was signed by the Continental Congress to free the 13 colonies and make the states independent. This was important to the American Revolution because it declared independence from Great Britain. -
Thomas Paine's writing of "The American Crisis"
Thomas Paine wrote a book called "The American Crisis". The purpose of this book was to uplift the soldiers fighting for the Revolutionary War to keep going, and to influence people to support the Revolutionary cause. This book helped renew the hope in Americans' hearts during the War, which is why it served an important purpose. -

Crossing of the Delaware River
On this day, George Washington instructed his troops to fill boats with artillery equipment and to cross over the Delaware River to New Jersey with him. After they all crossed over, they successfully launched an attack on the hessians troop in Trenton, New Jersey. -
Battle of Trenton
On the morning of December 26th, George Washington and his troops showed up in Trenton, New Jersey. They captured over 900 Hessian officers, stole supplies, and weapons. This was a small battle but important since this was the first victory the colonies had in a long time which helped motivate Washington's troops who were ready to give up. -

The battle of Philadelphia
In order to gain control of Philadelphia, the British military set out to attack George Washington and his men at Cooch's Bridge in Delaware. Sir William Howe had over 15,000 men while Washington had around 11,000 he was outnumbered. At the end of this war, the British came out with a victory and overtook Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. -

In Saratoga County, Stillwater, American commander Horatio Gates, and British commander John Burgoyne went to War. What happened was the American troops surrounded the British and ultimately defeated them, the outcome of this was important for the American troops since it helped influence the hope for independence and made France help America more with military assistance to weaken the British. -

The Winter at Valley forge
The British army attacked Philadelphia. Unable to defend the state, George Washington led his 12,000
men army to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, in the winter to camp. He did this because the area was close enough to the enemies to keep them in site but away enough to protect his army. As a result of this decision, around 2,000 soldiers died from natural diseases but no battle was fought, instead, this experience made the army stronger to later defeat the British. -

The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was a planned entrapment from allies Commander George Washington and French Lieutenant General Rochambeau to defeat the British troops and their commander Charles Cornwallis in Yorktown, Virginia. With the American and French forces combined, the British eventually surrendered as they were heavily outnumbered. This battle was important to the Revolutionary War because it is what led to the Treaty of Prais being signed, meaning the war ended. -
Treaty of Paris
In Paris, Kingdom of France, a document was signed by Spanish, French, British, and American representatives. The purpose of this document was to end the American Revolutionary War, and it did just that. Including granting America it's independence and western territory.
