  • Lexington And Concord

    Lexington And Concord
    General Gage's soldiers traveled to Lexington to capture Colonal Sam Adams and John Hancock.The Americans setup a system that alerted the town where the British were coming from. They setup a sentry at the top of The Old North Church, he would wave one lantern if the British were attacking by land and he would wave two lanterns if the British attacking by sea. They attacked by sea, they sent rider Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Samuel Prescott to go warn the Colonies.

  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    With a force of about 2,200 men the British army marched towards Breed's Hill after landing in the Charlestown Penninsula. When they arrived at Breed's Hill the the Patriot's army was waiting. The army was ready but low on ammunition, and so William Prescott gave the famous command ''Don't shoot until you see the white of their eyes'. Over a thousand Redcoats were killed or wounded, but the Americans lost the fight.

    General Washiongton marched to New York knowing the British would be there. But he also marched there for another reason,he wanted to pay his soldiers, Great sums of money were owed to the Contenental army. They fought the British in New York and lost. And so the Contenental Army crossed the Delaware over night to escape the British Army.

    Washington's army defeated a garrison of Hessian mercinaries employed by the Briitish. He then withdrawed an returned a week later to lure the British South.   • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga
    Saratoga was fought in two battles; the battles were eighteen days apart. General John Burgoyne attacked American Forces led by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold on September 19th, 1777. John Burgoyne achieved a victory but it was costly. With his weakened army he attacked the Americans again at Bemis Heights October 7th, but his forces were defeated and he retreated.     Winter at Valley Forge
    On December 19, 1777 Washington lead his troops to Valley Forge to stay for the Winter. The Winter was long and harsh with little cloths and good food. On Christmas Eve the men ate rice and vinegar for dinner. It was common to have frost-bite and many men wanted to leave.     General Washington commanding an army of 17,000 troops surrounded Yorktown preventing Cornwallis's army of 9,000 from escaping.     Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was the agreement between America and Britan to end the war. Controversy over the topic started in April, 1782 after the Americans and French emerged victorious from the battle of Yorktown. The Treaty was then signed off September 3, 1783.
