The British moved to Philadelphia. They captured Philadelphia which at the time was the capital of America, but his second in command soon took over and evacuated them from there. -

Americans lost the battle to the british. But they weakened the British. -
Marquis de Lafayette
He was a military leader who outwitted the British. THe British had went out to capture him but he out smarted them. -
Valley Forge
NO battle was faught at Valley Forge, but it was a turning point in the revolution. It was when the Continental army was ready to quit. But they didn't. -
Yorktown
17,000 French and Continental troops bean a battle known as the Battle of Yorktown against the british. They only had 9000 soldiers. Yorktown defeated the British. -
Treaty of Paris
On this day, the Treaty of Paris was signed, formally recognizing that the United States as a free and independent nation after eight years of war.
