  • Concord and Lexington

    Lexington and concord started once the king declared to colonies in a state of rebellion. Colonist spies knew that redcoats were coming to eliminate the threat, so they got ready to fight. The lost the battle at Lexington, but they won the one at concord, and that was the first official victory for the colonists

    Near the beginning of the American Revolution, The continental army surrounded the British army in Boston, trapping them and leaving them surrounded.
  • Bunker Hill

    The battle at bunker Hill was a battle in which the Americans had to retreat because they didn't have enough gunpowder.

    Battle (and defeat) of New York

    Lord Germain, who was commanding the British, decided that the British should take New York. George Washington discovered their plan, and rushed his army to make sure that didn't happen. After two long days of fighting, the British decided to give the Americans a chance to surrender, as they had lost many soldiers, and while they did not surrender, they did retreat.
  • Victory at Trenton

    Late on Christmas night, the Continental army crossed the Delaware river and surprised attacked the Hessians, German mercenaries hired by the British, after their celebrations. The Hessians surrendered and they lost no men.
  • Winter at Valley Forge

    The winter at Valley forge was brutal, and it was made even worse because the army was low on supplies, and disease was going around the camp. Many soldiers died due to disease and starvation.
  • Battle at Priceton

    During the battle of Princeton, the Continental Army defeated the British, adding 300 prisoners to the previous 868 prisoners taken from Trenton.

    There were free African Americans fighting in both concord and Lexington, but the Continental army banned access, and this changed in 1779 when there was a shortage of soldiers, and they allowed them to join again.
