  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was called the bloody massacre. It was important because it started all the anger of the colonists. Also, the bloody massacre caused some acts leading up to the revolution too.

  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    General William Howe was the Leader. This was an American loss, but the British suffered from nearly 1,000 soldiers killed or wounded. Americans on the other hand only had 400 killed or wounded militia.

  • The Battle of Saratoga Sept. 19-Oct. 7 1777

    The Battle of Saratoga was important because it was considered the turning point of the war. It was called the turning point of the war because it was when the French publically announced that they were allying with the Americans. The French finally publically announced it because, after the war, they saw that the Americans would actually have a chance to defeat the British in the war.

  • British Fort at Vincennes Captured

    George Rogers Clark, an American frontiersman, led a group of his men to capture the British fort in Vincennes. The attacked the fort, and the British general, Henry Hamilton, was not expecting the attack. Clark and his men beat the British and got control of the land between the Great Lakes and the Ohio River.
  • Battle at Kings Mountain

    Americans fight the British in The Battle at Kings Mountain on the border of North and South Carolina. This was important because it was the first southern battle that the British lost. After this battle, the British began to see that American Independence would not be so bad.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    American and French forces team up to beat the British at the Battle of Yorktown in the Chesapeake, Virginia. Cornwallis was surrounded and trapped by American troops and French ships, so he surrendered and the Americans won the war!
