1775 BCE
Second Continental Congress
It was held when the Revolutionary war had started. Things were going badly and the armed forces were disorganized. This Continental Congress created the Continental Army and made George Washington as commander-in-chief. -
1754 BCE
French and Indian War
The French settle in the Ohio River Valley to trade with the American Indians. They made forts to protect the trades between the Indians and them. Britain declared war against France and it was fought on the Ohio River Valley. The Indians and the French was together because of the trades they did to each other. The British Army all by itself. Britain won the war after seven years of fighting. -
Proclamation of 1763
After the French and Indian War was over, King George III issued a proclamation, which was a border between the Indian and 13 colonies. It became a cornerstones of Native American law in the United Staes and Canada. -
Sugar Act
The Parliament of Great Britain passed the Sugar Act that was a British Act. This law was designed to raise revenue from the 13 colonies. This Act stopped trades between New England and French. It was also a reduce of rate taxes on molasses per gallon to make the British army more rich. -
Stamp Act
It was another Act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain. This new tax was imposed to all American colonists to require them to a tax to every pice of printed paper they used. The papers were ship's papers, legal documents, and newspapers that you needed to pay taxes for. -
Quartering Act
The Quarterly Act was a law that force local colonial governments to provide housing for the British Soldiers. The Soldiers kicked the doors to take the colonists out their houses to live in there. This was stationed in the 13 colonies of America. -
Townshend Act
This Act was originated by Charles Townshend and passed by the English Parliament. This was design to collect revenue from the American Colonists. This was to put custom duties on imports of glass, lead, tea, paints, and paper. -
Boston Massacre
The British soldiers open fire on the American colonists in Boston.They kill five people because they were trying to protect them selves. This Boston Massacre the British had instituted was new taxes on tea, glass, and paper. The American Colonist wanted better rights. -
Tea Act
It was a British Act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain that was designed to bail out the British East India Company. It expand the company's monopoly on the tea trades for all British Colonies. They sell tea at the reduced price. -
Boston Tea Party
The American Colonists begin to dress like Native Americans. They started throwing 342 trunks of the cargo that was on the British Tea ships into the Boston Harbour. It was a violent protest by the American Colonists against the King George III's rule in America. -
Intolerable Acts
It was a Act passed by the British Parliament as a punishment for the destruction wrought during the Boston Tea Party. The King didn't like what the Colonists did to the tea. The colonist had a violent reaction to the Boston Tea tax in 1773. -
First Continental Congress
Representatives from each colony, expect Georgia met in Philadelphia for a meeting. Georgia dint join because the Royal Governor of Georgia succeeded in blocking delegates by being sent to the Congress. The meeting was to discuss the response to the British Intolerable Acts. -
Lexington and Concord- Revolution Begins
The King sent troops to confiscate colonial weapons. The Army ran into an untrained and angry militia, but really confident on to protect their colonies. This untrained army defeated the 700 british soldier army. -
Declaration of Independence
It was written and signed by Thomas Jefferson. It was adopted by the Second Continental Congress that states the reasons the British colonies of North America sought the independence. -
Articles of Confederation
It was the first written constitution of the United States. The progress of making this was very slow because of the fears of central authority and extensive land claims by the states. -
Battle of Yorktown Surrender
Yorktown was the battlefield that the American and British soldiers fought each other. The victory went to the American army because the British surrendered. It was the last battle of the American Revolution. -
Treaty of Paris
It was a printed paper that was negotiated between the United States and great Britain. This ended the Revolutionary War and recognized the American Independence. The Continental Congress named a five member commission to negotiate a treaty that included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens. -
New Constitution
The U.S. Constitution established the America's national government , fundamental laws, and basic rights for citizens. The delegates of the Constitutional Convention presided over by George Washington. -
Bill of Rights
It is the first ten amendments of the U.S. Constitution that included freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. These are some of the amendments.
