  • French Indian War

    French Indian War
    The French Indian War was about the British fighting the French for American land each being supported by various Native American tribes. The war ended with a British victory, signing the Treaty of Paris. The British got Canada from France and Florida from Spain. French got Guadeloupe, which was highly more valuable due to it's sugar.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act required the colonial government to provide housing and supplies for the British soldiers stationed in the colonies. The colonists became upset and threatened by this act as they were forced to provide for soldiers they didn't know. The colonists opposed this act by protesting against the act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was caused by British redcoats shooting residents in Boston, leaving 3 killed and 8 injured. There are many stories that say the redcoats shot the residents of Boston on purpose and another that said they shot them by accident. Whatever the story was, this major event caused outrage and rebellion among the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party & Intolerable Acts

    Boston Tea Party & Intolerable Acts
    The Boston Tea Party was a night where a group of men, that called themselves the "Sons of Liberty" disguised themselves as Native Americans, boarded a docked British ship of tea. They reportedly threw 342 chests of tea into the water. There were no injuries in the aftermath but it caused outraged among the British.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker was fought on a hill in Charles Town. Previously, the British planned to launch an attack on the heights of north and south Boston against the Americans. Details of the attack were leaked and around a thousand Massachusetts and Connecticut soldiers gathered at a hill in Charles Town to defend it. The battle ended in a British victory but the British casualties were much higher than the Americans.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence is the founding document of America. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston wrote this document, suggesting that all men are equal and God gave them the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This document would change America, as it broke off from the British and became its own individual country, making history.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    After General Burgoyne occupied Fort Edward, he moved his troops south of Saratoga, planning to attack the town. American General Horatio Gate's army had built a defense on the Bemis Heights, just south of Saratoga. The two armies engaged in warfare in Freeman's Farm on September 19. The British held off the Americans with much causalities. Going for a second attack, they failed, making General Burgoyne surrender. This battle convinced the French to sign a treaty with America against Britain.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Valley Forge is a location where George Washington set a winter encampment for his army. It was just 20 miles away from the British occupied Philadelphia. The winter conditions of the camp were harsh as there was a shortage of food, clothes, blankets and a spread of diseases. A Prussian officer, Baron von Steuben was brought in by Washington to order discipline and military training. By the end of the camp, the army had a huge change as they were better in combat and disciplined more.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris, signed in France in 1783, brought the end to the American Revolutionary War. Both the British and America signed as it recognized America as an independent nation. This was only the start of American history.
