The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence reflects ideas from the Enlightenment thinker, John Locke. Thomas Jefferson wrote direct ideas about Locke's ideas of government. One idea was that it was the government's duty to protect the people's natural rights. Also people have the right to "alter or abolish" unjust governments. Another idea is that all people are entitled to certain rights just from being human. -
