    The British won the war between them and the French, their victory got them a lot of land and a lot of debt. They asked for help from the colonists to pay their debt, this added new taxes for the colonists to pay. It also increased tension between colonies and the britain
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    The stamp act required a government tax on all legal documents like contracts and licences. People thought and proved the stamp act wasn´t a good idea. They started a petition to say that Parliament did not have the right to tax the colonies without representation. A group the sons of Liberty organized protests which caused to start the sugar act.
  • Boston Massacre

    There was a fight between the colonists and British because the colonists went to where the king lived to throw snowballs because they were getting paid poorly. A British officer was sent to see what was going on and somone yelled ¨fire¨ so the British started shooting people in the crowd so this caused big tension between the two groups because there is 2 different perspectives to the story and we don´t know who to believe.

    Boston tea party & intolerable acts
    the tea act was designed to help a struggling British company and to reduce smuggling, the British east India company had millions of pounds of unsold tea because of colonial boycotts. In nov,1773 three ships arrived in Boston harbor the Bostonians allowed the ships but not unloaded. This made a big group of people mad and they demanded that the tea ships be sent back to London. Samuel Adams was there along with 70 other people and they poured tea in the harbor.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Minutemen in Massachusetts were stockpiling gunpowder and weapons, Thomas Gage (British commander) knew that colonial militias in the countryside of Massachusetts were preparing for a conflict. The king of Great Brtitian wanted to take action against the colonists Eight years of war followed, and those who stood their ground against Gage’s troops eventually earned independence from Britain and became citizens of the democratic United States of America.

    The tension between the British and colonists had became bigger.The British army planned to launch an attack against the Americans on the heights north and south of Boston.

  • Valley Forge

    Washington´s army had spent the summer of 1777 fighting a string of loosing battles. The Americans had started something with the British army, the Americans were unable to keep the British out of Philadelphia. In December, Washington marched his tired, beaten, hungry and sick army to valley forge. At Valley Forge, there were shortages of everything from food to clothing to medicine. Washington's men were sick from disease, hunger, and exposure.

    The treaty of Paris was signed by U.S and British representatives on September 3rd, 1783. This ended the war of the American Revolution. The key provisions of the the treaty of Paris guaranteed both nations access to the Mississippi river. It defined the boundaries of the United States, called for the British surrender of all posts within U.S. territory, required payment of all debts contracted before the war, and an end to all retaliatory measures
