They also planned to arrest Samuel Addams and John Hanncock. The colonists had been expecting a fight.They organized a group of militia, called the Minutemen. When the British soldiers reached Lexington, 75 armed Minutemen were there . The Minutemen were greatly outnumbered. The British soldiers fired, killing 8 Minutemen and injuring 10 others. Still, the Patriots won this battle. #winning

    Check out this Newspaper!In 1781, most of the fighting took place in Virginia. In July of that year, the British general Cornwallis set up his base at Yorktown. From Yorktown his troops could recive goods from New York ships. In August, French Ships came in and blocked the harbor this gave Washington the perfect oppurtunity to attack!
