    Commities of Corespondance
    NO SPECIFIC DATE. This commity was the ones that started the Boston Tea Party. The Commity was founded by Samuel Adams. The Committees of Correspondence became the building blocks on which national unity could begin to build its foundation.

    Protest of the Stamp Act
    In March 1765 the British Parliament encted a Stamp act to the American Colonies. The Act stated that the Americans be taxed on many different kinds of paper goods. The tax was about half a penny but it still led to protests againt the British. The protests started with petitions, the people who signed the petitions stated that they refused to pay the taxes imposed on them. After the British kept the tax there were more violent protests

    This act was made for the colonies to have a tax on every piece of printed paper bought. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. The money collected was to help the defense of the places near the Appalachian Mountains.

    The HMS Gaspee was a ship sent to aid the Enforcement of Customs and Inspections in Rhode Island. At the time Rhode Island was a prime spot for smuggling. When the Gaspee was chasing a boat called the Hannah, the Hannah went into shallow water that the Gaspee could not enter. That day after they went to investigate the boat Lieytenant Dudingston was shot and wounded by Joseph Bucklin. churches used the Gaspee Affair to warn people about greedy monarchs

    The Boston Tea party on December 16, 1773 was a result of the Tea act parliament passed earlier in May. The patriots were angered that the taxes woud be raised on tea and decided to throw 92,000 pounds of tea in the Boston Harbor

    To defend themselves from the British, the American's set up a bunker on Bunker hill and Breed hill on the Charlestown Peninsula. The next morning the American's were threatening the British which was unheard of. It was a British military custom that the British were the ones to iniciate a fight. The British started to aproach the American's and then fought them.

  • The British Evacuate Boston

    The British Evacuate Boston
    On March 17, 1776 the British were forced to evacuate Boston by George Washington. On the 4th of March American Brigadier General John Thomas, was ordered to bring a small army, and workers to Dorchester Heights to fortify the area. To cover the sound of the working the American's shot cannons from another location. In the morning about a dozen cannons showed up at the Heights from Fort Ticonderoga. The Americans hoped to shoot the British ships with the cannons.

    British Surrender and pull out of Virginia
    On October 17 - 19 1781 the British troops pulled out of Virginia. At the battle of Yorktown the British decided to surrender, they had lost many men in this battle and past ones. The American and French Armies lined up on one side of Hampton road as the british took the other side. The British then anounced their surrender by casing their colors and playing a tune called "The World Turned Upside Down". This ended the last major action of the Rvolutionary War even though the war ended about that
