Stamp Act
This act came during the time the British were extremally in dept due to the French and Indian war. This was passed to help them recover their finances from the years worth of war.

These acts were passed to try and push Boston towards rebellion against the British governments. There were 4 acts amongst the 13 colonies and helped set the two sides on the path to the Revolutionary War.

First Continental Congress meets
They had a discussion and issued a Declaration of Rights, but disputing the British parliament's right to tax it. They also passed the Articles of Association which called colonies to stop importing goods from the British Isles.

Second Continental Congress meets
The congress met at the Independence hall in Philadelphia as promised. At this time the American Revolution had already began.

Battle of Bunker Hill

This appealed to king George III and expressed hope for reconciliation between Great Britain and the colonies. Dickinson opposed the British policy in a different way to help avoid the break with Britain.

Thomas Paine published this pamphlet to set forth his arguments in favor of American independence. It is considered one of the most influential pamphlet in American history.

Battle of Trenton
Colonel Johann Rall received warnings of colonial movements but his mean were exhausted and unprepared for the attack. In the battle 22 were killed, 92 were wounded, 918 were captured, and 400 escaped.

Battle of Camden
General Horatio Gates chose to engage the British on August 16, 1780 even though his men suffered from dysentery the night prior. He overestimated the soldier's he had ready for combat but when he realized it was already to late to withdraw.

This battle was more than a military win. This battle is what ended the fighting in the American Revolution.

Treaty of Paris
In 1782, the newly elected British Prime Minister saw American Independence as an opportunity to build a trade alliance with the new nation without the costs of running and defending the colonies. The terms were very favorable to the United States and later the treaty was signed.

This was a compromise from the delegates of the Northern and Southern states. The agreement was the 3/5 of the enslaved population would be counted for determining direct taxation.

Constitution is ratified
On June 21, 1788 New Hampshire had become the 9th and last state necessary to ratify the constitution. This made the document the law of the land.
