    The Charleston Tea Party
    The Charleston tea party occurred just 13 days before the Boston Tea Party but instead of throwing the tea overboard, the colonists put it in the exchange building and was not allowed to be sold. They did this because the colonists agreed that no one will purchase British Tea.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Occurred when British troops were sent to Concord, MA to confiscate colonial weapons. The troops ran into a colonial militia and fought. The colonists won and signaled the start of the American revolution.
  • Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was signed on August 2, 1776, and it allowed for the colonists to sever ties with Great Britain. It declared the colonies to be an independent nation and stated why the colonies seeked to become independent.
  • The Terrible Winter at Valley Forge

    The Terrible Winter at Valley Forge
    On December 12, 1777, Washington led his troops to the winter quarters at Valley Forge Pennsylvania. On top of being an extremely harsh and bitter winter, the colonists lacked food, clothing, ammunition, and other supplies. This caused over 2,000 men to die. Although, Prussian general Baron von Steuben did train a small troop unit there.

    Battle of King's Mountain
    The Battle of King's Mountain was fought near Blacksburg S.C. and was lead by American general William Campbell and by British general Patrick Ferguson. The battle ended up being a Patriot victory.
  • Battle of Camden

    Battle of Camden
    The Battle of Camden (fought in Camden S.C.) was led by American general Horatio Gates and by British general Lord Cornwallis. Although the Americans had a much larger troop count, they lost as one of the worst defeats in the war.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    The Battle of Cowpens was fought near Thickety Creek, South Carolina and was lead by General Morgan (Colonist) and General Tarleton (English). The colonists won which resulted in a major turning point for the Southern Colonies during the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was fought in Yorktown, Virginia and was led by General George Washington and French army troops against English General Cornwallis. The battle was a colonial victory and was a major turning point in the war.
  • Battle of Eutaw Springs

    Battle of Eutaw Springs
    The Battle of Eutaw Springs was fought along the banks of the Santee River and was led by American general Nathanael Greene and English general Alexander Stewart. The war was one of the hardest during the Revolutionary War and was won by the colonists. This allowed for a colonial control over the Southern part of the U.S.
  • Signing of the Treaty of Paris

    Signing of the Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris was a treaty signed by the colonists and the British, which officially ended the American Revolutionary War. The treaty also set the borders of the new country and made Britain recognize the U.S. as an indpendent naiton.
