The Townshend acts
after the stamp act failed the British needed to enact a new tax this time on imported goods. The crown created a board of customs to prevent smuggling and illicit trade. Americans organised a boycott of British goods that were taxed.The British sent troops to Boston which made things worse. -
The Boston Massacre
a disagreement between a colonist and a British soldier led to a large crowd of colonists surrounding 7 British troops. The colonists started throwing things at the soldiers and taunting them,which led to the soldiers losing their temper and firing into the crowd. Three men were dead and 2 others were mortally wounded. Paul Revere misleadingly portrayed the British as the aggressors. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Sons of Liberty boarded 3 ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 92,000 pounds of British tea into the Harbor. This really upset the British Government and indirectly caused the majority of the events that led to the Revolution. -
