French and Indian War
This was a war between France and England in the Colonies. The war was mostly fought over land and natural resources. England won but it ends up costing a lot of money to defend the Colonies. -

The Sons of Liberty were a vigilante group. They were formed due to the excessive taxes put on the colonies by the British. Tax collectors in the colonies started to become afraid to do their jobs -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a confrontation between colonists and British soldiers that resulted in 5 deaths. The Boston Massacre was caused by the rising tension in the colony of Massachusetts. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists dumped chests of tea into Boston Harbor while the Sons of Liberty were disguised as Native Americans. The Boston Tea Party was caused by an excessive tax on tea. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were acts that closed the Boston Harbor, taxed even more goods, and put Massachusetts under martial law. Caused by the Boston Tea Party -
Quartering Act
The Quartering forced colonists to house British soldiers in their own homes. This caused even more Colonial tension -
Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord was the true start of the American Revolution, "Shoot heard around the world." -
Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point of the American Revolution. After the Colonists win, foreign countries believe we can actually win the war so France joins our cause. -
Valley Forge
Known as the birthplace of the American War although two thirds of the soldiers there died due to disease. Fredrick von Steuben and Marquis Lafayette train the Colonists into real soldiers. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown is important because it led to the end of the fighting in the Colonies. The British General Charles Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington after his unorthodox battle tactics pinned the British soldiers down. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III and representatives of the United States of America on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War.
