A protest against increased tea prices in which colonists dumped British tea into the Boston Harbor. -

A series of laws set up by Parliament to punish Massachusetts for its protest against the British. -

This battle was the true start of the American Revolution against Great Britain. -
Declaration of Independence
A document that declared the United States to be a free, independent nation. It was written by Thomas Jefferson. -
Battle of Saratoga
The turning point of the American Revolution. This battle was won by the Americans. -
Valley Forge
The place where George Washington's army spent the harsh winter of 1777-1778. Several diseases killed 2/3 of the 2,000 soldiers who stayed there. -
Treaty of Paris
The treaty signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain. This treaty officially ended the war.
