1st and 2nd Continental Congress
President of first congress was Peyton Randolph. The first was used to build a continental army to fight and the 2nd was to adopt the Deceleration of Independence. -
Intolerable act
Laws passed by British parliament. Laws were meant to punish Massachusetts colonist for defiance in the protest from the Boston Tea Party to change the taxes from the goods. -
Publishing of Common Sense
Pamphlet written by Thomas Paine, advocating independence of Great Britain to people in thirteen colonies. Showed moral and political arguments encouraging common people in the colonies to fight for the gov. -
Stamp Act
Was passed by British Parliament. New tax imposed on American colonist to make them pay for every printed paper they used. Example would be legal documents, license, playing cards were all taxed.
