Victor was the British.The first major battle of the Revolution that kick-started the war. It was held on the Charlestown Peninsula on the North side of Boston Harbour. Major General Howe against General Artemas Ward and General Israel Putnam. 2,400 British troops against 1,500 Americans. This battle included the "shot heard around the globe". -

The victor was the British by driving the Americans out of Brooklyn and forced them to evacuate New York. The British had about 20,000 troops. The Americans had around 10,000 troops. It was Major General Lord Howe against General George Washington. Took place in New York. -

Victor was the Americans. The famous battle that took place the day after Christmas, where General George Washington had a surprise attack on the British while they were drunk and sleeping. It was General George Washington against Colonel Rahl. 2,400 American troops with 18 guns. 1,400 Hessians with 6 light guns. Took place in the capitol of New Jersey. This Battle was tunred the tables on the British who seemed to be dominating the War. There is a famous painting of them crossing the river. -
Battle of Brandywine
Victor was the British by driving the Americans out of Brandywine Creek. It was Major General Sir William Howe againstGeneral George Washington. Around 6,000 British and Hessians against 8,000 Americans. Took place in Pennsylvania, west of Philidelphia. -
Battle of Saratoga
Victor was the Americans by making the British surrender. It was about 5,000 British against 12,000 Americans. It was Major General John Burgoyne commanding the British and German forces and Major General Horatio Gates and Brigadier Benedict Arnold commanding the American army. Took place in Saratoga on the Hudson River in New York State. -
Battle of Monmouth
This battle is generally taken as a draw. It was roughly 10,000 British troops against 11,000 American troops. It was Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton, Major General Earl Cornwallis and Major General Knyphausen against General George Washington and Major General Charles Lee. Took place in New Jersey. Monmouth today is a county in mid-Jersey consisting of many towns. -
Capture of Savannah
Victor was the British. Roughly 5,500 Americans against 3,200 British. This battle lasted from 1779-1781. Major General Benjamin Lincoln commanded the American army against General Augustine Prevost. Took place in Svannah, Georgia. -
Battle of Cowpens
Victor was the Americans overwhelmingly. The Americans had 1,000 while the British had 1,100. It was Colonel Daniel Morgan against Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton. Took place in South Carolina on the border of North Carolina. -
Battle of Guilford Court House
Victor was the British.The British held back 4,400 Americans with 1,100 troops. It was Major General Lord Cornwallis against Major General Nathaniel Greene. Took place in North Carolina. -
Battle of Yorktown
Victor was the Americans. This battle is considered the last major battle of the Revolution. The British general surrendered to the Americans after being surrounded in Yorktown pretty much giving the Americans the victory of the Revolutionary War. General Washington commanded the Americans, Lieutenant General de Rochambeau commanded the French and Major General Lord Cornwallis commanded the British. Took place in Virginia.
