Paul Revere (1/1/1735-5/10/1818)
He was riding a horse one night and he saw that yelled “The British are coming”. He warned the colonists that the British were coming to attack. -
John Adams (10/30/1735-7/4/1826)
Attended the Second Continental Congress. Also a founding father who helped write the constitution. -
John Hancock (1/23/1737-10/8/1793)
One of the people who signed the declaration of independence. -
Thomas Jefferson (4/13/1743-7/4/1826)
Attended the Second Continental Congress. Helped write & signed the Declaration of Independence. -
Alexander Hamilton (1/11/1757-7/12/1804)
One of the founding fathers (helped write the constitution), -
Boston Massacre
Taught the colonists they needed to fight for freedom. Started the Revolutionary War. -
Boston Tea Party
A protest against the British. First big act showing the British that the colonists wanted freedom. -
First Continental Congress
The first meeting that was held wanted to discuss and try to get the intolerable acts repealed. They wanted the British to find peace with them. -
Second Continental Congress
Delegates from the 13 Colonies met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They formed an army to fight to british (The Continental Army), they also appointed George Washington as their leader. -
"Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech
Patrick Henry said this speech in hopes to be free from British rule, or at least their strict laws. Not too far after his speech, the Revolutionary War had begun. -
The Battle of Lexington & Concord
This was where the Revolutionary war began. This was hardly a battle, no one expected to fight but a gunshot fired and the British attacked. -
Minutemen
There were 100-500 minutemen ready to fight when the British arrived at the city of Concord. These were ready to fight at any moment. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
A battle fought in the hills, the British had fled leading the Americans to win. -
Declaration Of Independence
Declared freedom & independence in America, finalized the Americans no longer under British rule. -
Battle of Saratoga
The British weren’t expecting to fight but the patriots rose and the British surrendered. This was another big win for the patriots. -
French Allience
The patriots ended up forming an alliance with the French. This helped them win the revolution. -
Battle Of Yorktown
This was the last battle of the American Revolution. The American & French troops out numbered the British who were force to surrender. This led the Americans to win the war. -
Hessians
These were German troops hired by the british to fight. The British and the Hessians were to fight at the battle of Saratoga, but they fled. -
U.S Constitution signed
The articles of Confederation (which were previously written) wasn't sufficient. The U.S Constitution was written explaining the basic laws, government, and rights.
