First Continental Congress

Second Continental Congree
The Second Continental Congress consisted of delegates from all 13 colonies. They met in Philadelphia again and were faced with the problem of raising an army from the colonial militia to fight in the American Revolution, which had started a month earlier. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch Petition was written by John Dickinson. It petitioned for peace between the colonies and Great Britain to avoid more violence in the Revolutionary War. Later that September, King George denied the Petition. -
Prohibitory Act
The Prohibitory Act was passed to punish the colonies for revolting against the British Government. It created a naval blockade against North American sea ports. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration Independence is a formal document that states the colonists' intentions. The document declared its independence from Great Britain. It was written by 5 men including Thomas Jeffereson and Benjamin Frankling. The Continental Congree adopted it on July 4th, 1776.
