The signing of United States declaration independence was signed August 2 1776 at the Pennsylvania state house. The 56 delegate to the second contintal congress represented the 13 former colonies which had declared themselves the United States of America and they endorse the declaration of independence. The American revolution in South Carolina in tugaloo river. A group of Cherokees were defeated by a patriots force by Andrew Pickens .the Patriots then proceeded to raze the Indian town. Andrew Pickens is the namesake for the mountain district in the Sumter national forest. The Cherokee wars also know as chickamauga wars were a series of black and forth raids, campaign, ambushes,minor skirmishes and several full scale. -

On September 15 1776 general Howell landed at kips Bay and entered the city of New York . On August 22 1776 new Yorkers heard the cannon blast of the battle of long island. Even before the battle of Bunker hill Let. General Thomas Gage had considered and begun preparation of occupying new York city. When Maj General replace Gage in October 1775, he continued to make preparation for such an occupation. -
Battle of long island and white plains
On August 27 1776. The British army successfully moved against the American continental army lead by George Washington. It was also know as the battle of Brooklyn and the battle of Brooklyn heights. The British gain victory and they force capture of new York city and long Island from the continental army. Washington defeat could have led to the surrender of his entire force, but his ingenuity instead allowed him to escape and continue the fight. -
