The Night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to the nearby Concord. Paul Revere and other riders were the ones to sound the alarm. The Americans were the ones to win the battle of Lexington and Concord. -
Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
On May 10, 1775, Benedict Arnold joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys at an attack on the fort, surprising and capturing the sleeping British garrison. As the first victory of the Revolutionary War, the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga served as a proper booster and provided key arms for the Continental Army in that first year of war. George Washington troops traveled through the snowy Delaware on Christmas day over the course of ten days, won two Battles of the American Revolution. John Rall had received warnings of Colonial movements, his men were very tired and unprepared from Washington's attack - though the rumors that they were drunk from Christmas day celebrations were unfounded. The battle of Trenton was won by the Americans. -
Battle of Saratoga
British General John Burgoyne achieved something small, but costly victory American forces lead by Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold. Burgoyne surrendered ten days later, and the American defeated and persuaded the French government to formally recognize the colonist’s cause and enter the war as their ally. -
Battle of Monmouth
The British commander, General Clinton , faced with a war with France decided it was frugal to protect New York City and Florida. Then On June 18, the British began to leave Philadelphia, crossing New Jersey to go to New York City. Next, it was Americans turn to hassle the British, and they do that in limited ways, burning bridges, muddying wells, cutting trees across roads, and snapping at their heels. No one really one the Battle of Monmouth. -
Battle at Cowpens
At the Battle of Cowpens in South Carolina on January 17, 1781, during the Revolutionary War , American troops under General Daniel Morgan beat British forces under Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton. As Tarleton’s men attacked, Morgan instructed the militia to argue with them but to leave the front line after lighting two rounds. The Americans won the Battle at cowpens. -
Battle of Yorktown
On this day in 1781, General George Washington, imposing a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops, begins the siege known as the Battle of Yorktown against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and a contingent of 9,000 British troops at Yorktown, Virginia, in the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. The Americans won the Battle of Yorktown.
