Battle of Bunker Hill.
colonial forces in Boston learned that the British were planning to send troops to fortify the unoccupied hills surrounding the city, which would give them control of Boston Harbor. In response, 1,200 colonial troops under the command of William Prescott prepared to defend Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. British found out about their presence and sent a larger force in order to overcome them. The British won but suffered many casualties. -
