The colonists were defeated by the British at Lexington. When the British were coming to Concord, Colonists were hiding behind trees and bushes, and the Colonists defeated the British. First battle of the American Revolution. -
Fort Ticonderoga

Bunker (Breed's) Hill
The first major battle. British had to go up the hill three times before they defeated the colonists. War was not going to be easy or quick for the British. -
Long Island
Colonists fought hard, but were defeated by the British. Nathan Hale got hung for spying. Was the first major battle since the Declaration of Independence. -
Trenton
Washington lead 2,400 troops across Delaware River to surprise the British. They defeated the Hessian Force, and took Prinston on Jan. 3. Colonists won at Trenton. -
Saratoga
Also took place on Oct. 7, 1777. Burgoyne surrendered- turning point in war. French agreed to help American cause. On Sep. 19, the British won the war, and on Oct. 7, the Colonists won. -
Cowpens
Was a turning point in the Southern Campaign. The colonists won this war. -
Yorktown
Also happened on Oct. 19. The last major battle of war. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington. Was a Colonial victory.
