- Both sides were trying to capture Bunker Hill and took place during the Siege of Boston. Patriots killed a lot of British = morale boost

PRINCETON

- It was a US win and it made the men believe that they could win the war
TRENTON
-George Washington (US) and Johann Rall (GB) were the commanding officers
- captured Trenton and gave the Americans even more hope -
Siege of Charleston
- Sir Henry Clinton (GB) and Benjamin Lincoln (US) were the commanding officers
- The British gained control of the South and the Americans lost. (POW)

Saratoga
- Horatio Gates (US) and John Burgoyne (GB) were the commanding officers
- It was the major turning point of the war, the British started to retreat, and Burgoyne's campaign failed

- James Johnston (US) and Patrick Fergunson (GB) were the commanding officers
- It became obvious that the Americans in the South would not back the British, British defeat

Yorktown
- George Washington (US) and Charles Cornwallis (GB) were the commanding officers
- The importance of this battle was it ended the war, America became free, and the British had many POW's along with a great number of dead soliders
