  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The British army won in Lexington and the colonists won in Concord. Paul Revere and William Dawes rode to Concord, Charles Town, Cambridge, Medford, Menotomy, and Lexington, they warned all the colonists they could that the redcoats were coming.
  • Battle of Fort Ticonderoga

    Benidict Arnold and ethan allen took down a fort that had enough ammunition for future fights. This was considered the first American victory in the Revoltionary War.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Also know as breed's hill the colonists set up posts on the hill. The british charged them, but it took the three tries to successful get the colonist. One of the famous saying was "Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes" this was because colonist didn't have enough ammunition to waste it. They also had to be close enough to kill them in one shot.
  • Battle of Long Island

    General Howe thinks he can get Washington to surrender by surrounding him with troops but at night the almost 11,000 colonial soldiers retreat and get back safely only loosing 1,200 troops during battle and killing about 400 British soldiers.
  • Battle of Trenton

    There were about 2,400 American troops and about 1,400 Hessian troops. Christmas night Washington crossed the Delaware. Washington chose to attack because soon his troops would be let go. The Americans won the battle with capturing most of the Hessians.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The British surrendered about 6,000 soldiers under General John Burgoyne. After this battle the French decided to take the American's side. Benidict Arnold was the leader of the troops for this war.
  • Battle of Monmouth

    Fought in New Jersey Washington dispatched Major General Charles Lee with about 5,000 men to attack the British stealthy. Charles was forced to retreat, but Washington came in with more troops and kept attacking.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Each, the British and the Americans had a thousand men. The Americans won this battle because the British got overwhelmed when they charged in and then when Washington's dragoons came through the rear of the British army. The British lost 39 officers and 60 soldiers. The Americans lost 12 and the British left 60 wounded.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The British under Cornwallis command surrendered after 3 days by Colonial soldiers and some French troops. This supposedly ended the Revolutionary war.
