The Battle of Lexington
The Battle of Lexington was the first battle of the American Revolution. It's uncertain who shot the first fire but it became known as the "shot heard around the world." It took place in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. This battle resulted in the colonists retreating. -
The Battle of Bunker Hill
This battle took place in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The British won this battle, and it was the first important battle of the revolution. After this battle, there was no going back and intimidating the other side alone would not be enough to get a victory at this point. -
The Battle of Quebec
This took place in the Province of Quebec. It resulted in a British win. General Arnold and General Montgomery were trying to trying to have Canada side with them. Their attempt failed and they were forced to leave Canada and would not be able to get Canada on their side at all after this. -
The Battle of Trenton
American troops, lead by George Washington, marched through the Delaware River to take the Highlands of the Hudson. This battle took place in Trenton, New Jersey and ended in an American victory. The American troops had easily won this battle and because of that, they were encouraged and felt more hopeful about winning the war. -
The Battle of Saratoga
This was fought in Saratoga County, New York. Americans won this battle and because of this, the French saw what strength the Americans had leading to France supporting the Americans. This was a turning point in the Revolution. -
The Battle of Yorktown
George Washington lead an American and French-allied army to attack against General Cornwallis. Washington had made General Clinton think his troops were going to New York and because of this, General Cornwallis was ordered to send some troops to that location. It was too late when they found out the American troops weren't going to be there, and the British were defeated and eventually surrendered, ending the American Revolution.
