    British were trying to find the militia's stores of ammunition and arms. Paul Revere and William Dawes rode to warn the militia that the British troops were coming. 79 militia met 1,000 British troops at Lexington. 8 militia were killed. This was the first battle of the American Revolution.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Militia commanded by colonel William Prescott set up posts at Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill across the Harbor from Boston. Prescott told the Militia " Don't fire until you find the whites of your eyes" The Americans ran out of gunpowder.

    The Battle of Long Island is when the Patriots and the British were determined to fight. The British badly defeated the Continental Army. Nathan Hale disguised himself as an old school teacher.

    The British settled in New York and they left some troops in Princeton and in Trenton. Washington escaped and went to Princeton. Washington also led 2,000 troops across an icy river to surprise the troops.

    General of the British, John Burgoyne, received a small but costly victory from winning the war between the British and the American forces. John then surrendered ten days later.

    The battle of Monmouth is when George Washington sent his second command, Charlie Lee, to go harass the British army. Charlie Lee was ordered to engage with the British until George Washington came with the army from Valley Forge. George Washington finally showed up and he saw Charlie Lee fleeing from the British.

    The battle of Cowpens is when the general, Daniel Morgan, routed the troops and got them ready to fight. This battle was the turning point for the British. Americans conflicted big casualties on the British.

    The battle Yorktown is when George Washington commanded a force of 17,000 French troops to siege against the British. The British had a team of 9,000 British troops ready to fight.
