    At dawn, the redcoats approached Lexington.They ran into about 70 waiting minutemen led by captain john Parker. The minutemen stood in town common with muskets in hand. Then a shot was fired from where is still not clear both sides let loose and exchange of bullets.then British continued to concord. Then the British met a group of minutemen at the north bridge.Then the British begin to make their way back to Boston. All along the road the, colonist hid behind trees and fired on the soldiers.

    the redcoats assembled at breed's hill. bayonets drawn the charged. then the Americans opened fired forcing the British to retreat. Than the Americans ran out of gunpowder and had to withdraw. Than the British won but yet they suffered heavy losses of more than 1,000.

    The main British force was in new York. And the British left some troops in Princeton and Trenton and new jersey. Washington was camped in Pennsylvania across the Delaware river. Than on Christmas night 1776, Washington led 2,400 troops across the icy river to surprise the enemy. Than Washington marched to Princeton.

    In July General Burgoyne's army captured Fort Ticonderoga but he needed supplies. Than General Burgoyne sent force to a American supply base. Than a local militia group, the Green Mountain Boys, defeated them. Than Burgoyne's army retreated to Saratoga, New York. Than Burgoyne made a desperate attack on October 7. Than On October 17, 1777, General Burgoyne surrendered.

    Washington order Charles Lee to attack the Brittish rear. Lee decided to surrender a small force but was surprised by the presence of Lord Cornwallis and his forces. Lee decided to retreat. When Washington showed up he was surprised to see his men retreating in caos. Washington organized and ordered his men to attack. The largest artillery duel of the war ensued. Late afternoon the fighting stopped. The Brittished fleed under the cover of darkness.

    General George Washington, of 17,000 French and Continental troops begins Yorktown against British General Lord. Than Charles Cornwallis of 9,000 British troops. Than Gorge Washington ordered Marquis de Lafayette and an American army of 5,000 troops to block Cornwallis’ escape from Yorktown by land while the French naval fleet blocked the British escape by sea. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington in the field at Yorktown on October 17, 1781,effectively ending the War for Independence.
